Living Memory
"Because memory does not live in the past — it lives every time it finds a safe space to speak."
Living Memory
Some events do not end when their days are over. They leave a mark that continues in people, in places, and in stories not yet told.
This space was created to preserve human testimonies and experiences — to give memory a place where voice is protected, and where the experience is honored as it was lived by those who carried it.
In this edition, we remember the July massacres through the voices of women who carried the memory and chose to tell it as they lived it.
This project will be a tapestry of voices, words, and images — where women carry the memory of July and bring it to life again through storytelling and art.
July was different this time.
It wasn’t the summer heat that exhausted me, but something far heavier—something that sat on my chest like a stone that refused to be lifted.
- Memory Retold, Memory Witnessed
Didn't we once sing, "Palestine is my home, and the path to my victory"?
- Memory Heard
July 2025 was not just a point in time in As‑Suwayda, but a moment that left a deep mark on the memory of many of its people.
- Memory Retold, Memory Witnessed
A year has passed since the July events in As-Suwayda, yet memory has not closed its pages.
- Memory Heard
I write these words today not to recount a story from the past, but to give voice to a pain and a pride that still pulse...
- Memory Retold
